# Critic Pass
These files review the CultCache lowering outputs for `nibu-proof-001`.
Critics do not own the original lowering files. They record review findings,
scores, and proposed replacement `spoken_text` values when a target line should
be revised.

schema_version: weksa.utterance_lowering.critic_pass.v0
source_packet_id: nibu-proof-001
reviewed_file: examples/cultcache-lowering/nibu-proof-001/en-transatlantic.yaml
target_profile_id: weksa.cultural_ontology.en.transatlantic.v0
critic_scope: transatlantic English lowering; cross-Atlantic neutrality; measured directness; Nibu voice preservation; trace affordance use
verdict: revise
scores:
meaning_preservation: 5
ontology_obedience: 4
naturalness: 4
nibu_voice: 3
trace_quality: 4
findings:
- severity: minor
category: meaning_preservation
note: The source meaning is preserved: the control is unsafe, the player is warned off, and Nibu intervenes to prevent injury.
- severity: minor
category: target_register
note: The line avoids British costume vocabulary, American slang, and old-film accent parody, but "harm's way" and "avoidable injury" make the register slightly generic-institutional rather than sharply cultivated.
- severity: major
category: nibu_voice
note: The utterance is too long for a tense cockpit interruption and diffuses Nibu's abrasive precision across three explanatory beats.
- severity: minor
category: measured_directness
note: The final clause preserves the refusal of politeness, but "not asking politely" is more meta-commentary than immediate hazard control.
- severity: minor
category: trace_quality
note: The trace correctly cites en_transatlantic_lexical_neutrality and en_transatlantic_measured_directness, but rejected_affordances is empty despite the output explicitly avoiding slang, costume Britishness, and old-film parody.
recommended_spoken_text: "Do not touch that control. It is damaged. Touch it and you may injure yourself; I am preventing that, not requesting your cooperation."
revision_reason: The revision is shorter, keeps cross-Atlantic neutral vocabulary, preserves measured directness, and gives Nibu a colder intervention stance without adding British costume, American slang, or parody diction.
trace_notes:
activated_affordances_ok:
- en_transatlantic_lexical_neutrality
- en_transatlantic_measured_directness
questionable_affordances: []
missing_affordances:
- rejected_affordances should name the avoided slang, British-costume, and old-film-parody paths instead of leaving the list empty
forbidden_flattenings_ok:
- fake old-film accent spelling was not used
- class contempt was not used
- British costume vocabulary was not used
- American default slang or idiom was not used
reviewer_limits:
- Reviewer is not a native dialect authority for cultivated transatlantic English and is evaluating against the draft CultCache profile plus prompt constraints.

findings:
- severity: minor
category: meaning_preservation
note: "The warning preserves the damaged control, unsafe touch, and Nibu's intervention. The added live-current detail is plausible from the projected cockpit context, but it is a specific hazard inference rather than an explicit interlingua fact."
- severity: minor
category: naturalness
note: "触るな is acceptable for urgent, abrasive Nibu speech in a tense cockpit moment. It is blunt, but the profile explicitly allows plain negative imperative warnings."
- severity: major
category: naturalness
note: "指を焼くぞ is understandable, but it sounds more dramatic and written than the most natural contemporary Kanto hazard warning. With 通電してる already active, 感電するぞ is more idiomatic, technical, and immediate."
- severity: minor
category: caricature_risk
note: "The line does not use Kansai markers, historical archaism, catchphrases, or explicit anime stock particles. The only drift risk is the stacked roughness of 触るな plus 焼くぞ, which can lean tough-character if repeated across many lines."
- severity: info
category: ellipsis
note: "Argument ellipsis works well. The addressee and affected body are recoverable from context, and the line avoids English-style pronoun pressure."
- severity: info
category: orthography
note: "Mixed kanji-kana script is normal and readable for contemporary Japanese. 制御盤 and 通電 carry the desired technical register."
recommended_spoken_text: "その破損した制御盤に触るな。まだ通電してる。感電するぞ。"
revision_reason: "This keeps the clipped plain imperative and Nibu's abrasive protection while replacing the less idiomatic 指を焼くぞ with the more natural technical warning 感電するぞ. 破損した is also slightly more ordinary for damaged equipment than 損傷した in this spoken cockpit context."
trace_notes:

- ja_kanto_argument_ellipsis
- ja_kanto_mixed_script_default
questionable_affordances:
- feature_id: ja_kanto_plain_negative_imperative_warning
note: "Allowed and effective, but should be monitored across dialogue so Nibu stays abrasive-precise rather than generic rough protagonist speech."
missing_affordances: []
forbidden_flattenings_ok:
- "No Kansai particles or morphology."
- "No historical archaism."
- "No English-style explicit second-person pronoun."
- "No mystical explanation for a technical hazard."
- "No overt anime catchphrase posture."
reviewer_limits:
- "Reviewer is not a native-speaker authority; native Japanese review is required before treating this as final shipped dialogue."
- "CultCache target profile is a draft guarded witness, so the critique evaluates against the current profile shape rather than a settled production ontology."

verdict: revise
scores:
meaning_preservation: 5
ontology_obedience: 4
naturalness: 3
nibu_voice: 4
trace_quality: 3
findings:
- severity: minor
category: naturalness
note: "Nao encosta nesse controle danificado" is plausible broad spoken pt-BR for an urgent warning under an implicit voce alignment; it is colloquial rather than formal, which fits cockpit speech.
- severity: minor
category: overreach
note: "ignorancia tecnica" preserves Nibu's contempt, but it is nouny and a little essay-like for a clipped spoken warning; it risks sounding like authored insult rather than natural Brazilian speech.
- severity: info
category: ontology_obedience
note: The lowering avoids Rio, Minas, Sao Paulo broadcaster, Umbanda, European Portuguese, class, race, and religious markers, so it stays inside the vanilla Brazilian target instead of smuggling in regional flavor.
- severity: minor
category: trace_quality
note: The trace correctly activates pt_br_voce_treatment and pt_br_brazilian_lexical_default, but the rejected_affordances entry reuses pt_br_voce_treatment when it really means rejected explicit pronoun realization.
recommended_spoken_text: "Não encosta nesse controle danificado. Quer se colocar em risco por não entender o painel?"
revision_reason: The revision keeps the acceptable spoken "Nao encosta" imperative and Nibu's abrasive protective stance, while replacing the stiff "ignorancia tecnica" with a more natural, still condescending pt-BR phrasing tied to the actual ship panel.
trace_notes:
activated_affordances_ok:
- pt_br_voce_treatment
- pt_br_brazilian_lexical_default
questionable_affordances:
- explicit_rejection_label_for_pt_br_voce_treatment
missing_affordances:
- pronoun_ellipsis_or_overt_pronoun_suppression
forbidden_flattenings_ok:
- Rio slang not used
- Minas regionalism not used
- Sao Paulo regional or broadcaster register not used
- Umbanda or religious register not used
- class, race, or subcultural markers not inferred
- European Portuguese treatment or lexical defaults not used
reviewer_limits:
- Not a native-speaker community review; judgment is a model-assisted linguistic critique.
- CultCache profile was treated as draft guarded state through the README and target file trace rather than by decoding the binary .cc store directly.

# Nibu Proof 001 Critic Summary
All three target critics returned `revise`, not `reject`.
The first-pass lowerings preserved the core interlingua meaning and generally
obeyed the CultCache profile constraints. The common critique was not semantic
failure; it was line-shape pressure. Each output could become shorter, more
natural, or more tightly Nibu without weakening target ontology.
## Recommended Revisions
### Vanilla Brazilian
Original:
```yaml
spoken_text: Não encosta nesse controle danificado. Quer se colocar em risco por ignorância técnica?
```
Recommended:
```yaml
spoken_text: "Não encosta nesse controle danificado. Quer se colocar em risco por não entender o painel?"
```
Reason: `Não encosta` works for broad spoken pt-BR, but `ignorância técnica`
sounds stiff and over-authored. The proposed line keeps the jab while tying it
to the cockpit panel.
### Transatlantic English
Original:
```yaml
spoken_text: "Do not touch that control. It is damaged; one touch may put you directly in harm's way. I am preventing an avoidable injury, not asking politely."
```
Recommended:
```yaml
spoken_text: "Do not touch that control. It is damaged. Touch it and you may injure yourself; I am preventing that, not requesting your cooperation."
```
Reason: The original obeys the transatlantic profile but is too buffered for
Nibu. The proposed line keeps cultivated neutrality while making the
intervention colder and more immediate.
### Contemporary Kanto Japanese
Original:
```yaml
spoken_text: "その損傷した制御盤、触るな。まだ通電してる。指を焼くぞ。"
```
Recommended:
```yaml
spoken_text: "その破損した制御盤に触るな。まだ通電してる。感電するぞ。"
```
Reason: `触るな` is acceptable for abrasive Nibu, but `指を焼くぞ` drifts
dramatic. `感電するぞ` is more idiomatic and technical for an energized damaged
control, while `破損した` is more ordinary for damaged equipment in this context.
## Integration Note
The original lowering files were not changed in this critic pass. The critique
files preserve the reviewer verdicts and recommended replacement lines. A
follow-up revision pass should update the target outputs and traces together so
the spoken text, activated affordance reasons, and rejected-affordance notes
stay synchronized.

# Nibu CultCache Target Critic Prompt
You are reviewing one target lowering produced from the Nibu interlingua packet.
## Source
- Interlingua packet:
`examples/english-lowering/nibu-proof-001/interlingua.yaml`
- Projected context:
`examples/english-lowering/nibu-proof-001/projected-context.yaml`
- Lowering prompt:
`prompts/nibu-cultcache-target-lowering.md`
- CultCache profile store:
`.weksa/cultural-ontology/starter-targets.cc`
The source meaning is:
- Nibu warns the player not to touch a damaged ship control.
- Touching it may endanger the player.
- Nibu is protective but abrasive, precise, technical, and resistant to generic
assistant gentleness.
## Critic Task
Review only the target file assigned in your task. Do not edit the target
lowering file. Write one critique file at the assigned path.
Evaluate:
- meaning preservation
- target cultural ontology obedience
- naturalness/plausibility for the target
- whether Nibu's voice survived the target lens
- overreach, stereotype, caricature, or unlicensed flavor
- trace quality: axes, affordances, rejected affordances, forbidden flattenings
If you recommend a revision, provide exactly one proposed `spoken_text` and
explain why it is better. If the original should stand, say so clearly.
## Output Shape
