One new function in C# and both tracked HLSL copies (one blob): the centre on the
tile's central ray at mid-depth, radius ((z1 - z0) / 2) |(m_c, 1)| + z1 N / (sqrt(2) f)
+ warp. TileBallEnclosesEveryRaySegment checks 2,000 seeded tiles x 64 points
(sub-pixel corners at both depth ends with full-length flows) with no tolerance,
and pins the ball to the derivation so a grown ball fails too. The mirror's
compared-function count moves from 52 to 53.

Mutation survivors of the authority reader (record count, schema id, type) and of the
reader's dangling-link error text each get a test that fails when the rule breaks.

readAuthorityRecord decoded the store itself and accepted only cultcache.store.v1. It now calls
readSingleFileStore, so v3 reads, a zero-byte file is a StoreUnreadableError, and a refused
header is never echoed. Tests derive their bundles from the Rust-written fixtures.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
pushAll({soft}) asked readStore, so it skipped every file the reader refuses. It now asks
#readDisk: absent writes, readable skips, unreadable refuses. The reader is readSingleFileStore,
synchronous and exported, so a consumer reads a store through it instead of decoding one itself.
New tests: soft pushAll over absent, readable and five unreadable files; reading an absent store
writes nothing; a forged header that does not start at the prefix is never echoed.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The seam sat before the call, so a mutant that swallowed the real rename's result was invisible to it. It now makes the rename itself fail, on both platforms.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
store_header is the only reader of a store file's leading bytes. It returns the header slot (a MessagePack str only, never bin, as in C#, TS and Python) and separately the proof that the bytes are one whole array, so a newer store cut short after its header is still named unsupported. leading_header, read_array_header and read_string are deleted. decode_store_file takes the header the reader already found.
Vectors bin-header-v1/v3/v9 join the readability manifest as refuses x4. Tests: a rename fault step (WriteStep::Rename) shows a failed rename is NotReplaced, the store intact and no staging file left; every merging writer refuses through a dangling link; the unsupported-format refusal names v1 and v3 and echoes only ASCII-digit headers.

design.md gains "GLSL Target: Source Transformations" (the list, the common-subset rule, the
regeneration command, the derived-file rule, the two parity legs). README says how a WebGL
consumer includes CultMath.glsl. THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES lists CultMath.glsl as MPL-2.0, because
it inlines the Phacelle include.

compile-glsl.ps1 writes the wrapper a WebGL2 consumer writes (#version 300 es, highp precision,
the library by concatenation, one call of every public function) and compiles it with glslang;
-Body replaces the calls, for the negative control.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
GlslLowering (test project) is the HLSL -> GLSL ES 3.00 transformation as named steps: includes
inlined by the C# mirror's own resolver, guards and texture functions dropped, type names,
static const, casts by a balanced scanner, intrinsic renames, literals passed through, the
CULTMATH_GLSL guard and a provenance line. GlslMirrorTests pins the committed file to the
lowering (CULTMATH_WRITE_GLSL=1 regenerates it), finds no HLSL-only token, finds every public
function but the texture samplers, and pins fixtures/glsl-parity.json (256 seeded cases per
family as float32 bit patterns) to C#.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Each edit is legal HLSL that computes the same bits, and closes one dialect gap the GLSL lowering
would otherwise have to special-case:
- snoise and snoise_grad: step(h, 0.0) -> step(h, float4(0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0)); GLSL has no
step(genType, float).
- pcg: (state >> 28) + 4 -> + 4u; GLSL has no implicit int -> uint.
- cellular and phacelle jitter, cellular id: (float)((uint)hash.x >> 8) before the float
multiply; GLSL has no implicit uint -> float.
- damp (float2/3/4): the scalar amount is splatted explicitly; GLSL has no lerp(vecN, vecN, float)
promotion.
- pcg3d(float3) is defined before pcg3d(float2), which calls it; GLSL needs a declaration before use.
Both tracked copies; the C# mirror stays green, FXC cs_5_0 compiles both copies.

Mutation survivors on the merge's refusal text (the two readable formats, the
unrecognised-header description, the record-slot refusal) had no test pinning them.

The cut's negative check is a pattern over math.Interval.cs and CultMath.Interval.hlsl: the
bounds use values only, so neither file names the gradient functions. Comments only.

Representation, the op list, the one-ulp widening rule and its two cases, the Lipschitz
provenance and pin, what the ball bounds guarantee and what they do not, tightness, the
saving and its open fork, and the consumers. Every number is one a committed test prints.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
IntervalTests runs every op over 10,000 seeded intervals x 16 points with no tolerance, and
kills each op's one-ulp-shrunk lo and hi; exp's widening is an equivalent mutant on this CPU,
and smoothstep's is killed by a constructed non-monotone step. NoiseBoundTests encloses snoise
and fbm over 2,000 balls x 64 points and the bounded domain warp, pins SNOISE_LIPSCHITZ against
1e5 points and the ascent from MeasureLipschitz's witness, prints tightness, and prints the
march saving. The saving is 0.93x, not 2x: that test skips with the fork named.
MeasureLipschitz and MeasureMonotonicity are explicit, slow tests.

math.Interval.cs and shaders/CultMath.Interval.hlsl (included from CultMath.hlsl after Phacelle;
both tracked copies) add iv_point, iv_add, iv_sub, iv_neg, iv_mul, iv_scale, iv_abs, iv_min,
iv_max, iv_sqr, iv_sqrt, iv_exp, iv_clamp, iv_saturate, iv_smoothstep, iv_lerp, iv_snoise_ball
and iv_fbm_ball, and SNOISE_LIPSCHITZ = 10.099261 (1.10 x the refined max |snoise_grad| that
NoiseBoundTests.MeasureLipschitz prints). iv_exp and iv_smoothstep widen by one ulp through
asfloat(uint), added beside asuint as the HLSL intrinsic. The mirror test now compares 52
functions; the Unity package and the NuGet content files carry the new include.

R1's rule that the header alone decides an unreadable-format store (a newer store
cut short is not damaged) is kept as leading_header, asked before the whole-file
proof. A directory at the store path now stops a write at the read as an I/O
error, so the two tests that used it to reach a failed rename assert that instead,
and the two c2a header tests assert R1's UnsupportedFormat kind, not c2a's old text.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The merge left store_header's visitor unclosed (does not build). R3's pin that a
whole-store flush replaces a dangling link survives the single reader: the reader
still refuses the link as an I/O error, and the flush, which has no content to
carry from a link that holds none, writes v1 over it (Rust write_all_unlocked, TS
pushAll).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
R1's rules win where both sides decided the same question: a zero-byte file is
not a store (refused as unreadable in every runtime), only nothing at the path is
empty, a dangling link is an I/O error, refusals never echo stored values and echo
a header only as cultcache.store.v<digits>, writes report Rejected, NotReplaced
and ReplacedNotDurable. C2a's rules win on what it added: the v3 element-id
header, variants, whole-file proof, typed unreadable errors in C#, TypeScript and
Python. Rust keeps R1's CultCacheStoreUnreadable{path, kind}; C2a's
StoreUnreadableError is deleted. The readability manifest's zero-byte row is
refuses x4.

The snapshot fallback sent the caught error's message to the peer, and
errors from getCache or the registry went the same way, so a message the
application or a peer supplied could reach the wire. Its ack fields also
covered the refused request. The snapshot path now refuses per case with
fixed text (the snapshot source failed / the snapshot response is too
large / the snapshot response could not be queued) through refuse(),
which sends unreliable and unordered, so it needs no room in a full
queue, with ack fields that acknowledge nothing, as every runtime's
refusal does. onError keeps the detail.
Tests, with a raw peer that acknowledges nothing: a queue of 8 filled
exactly by an unacknowledged 8-fragment reply, then a refusal that still
arrives and acknowledges nothing; and a getCache failure carrying a
canary, refused with "the snapshot source failed".
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Queue-full refusal (findings 2 and 6). The refusal was built in
_send_rudp_schema_frame before _end_refused_peer reset the session, so
its ack fields covered the refused request (ack=102 mask=0x3). A reply
the queue cannot take now raises _ReplyUnqueueable; the loop ends the
peer through _end_refused_peer, which builds the refusal before the
reset, gives it ack fields built after it (acknowledging nothing, like
the goodbye and like Rust's refusal), sends it unreliable and unordered,
then the goodbye. A refusal fragment that can never be sent is not
dropped: the goodbye names its failure ("packet could not be sent:
EMSGSIZE"), where it used to say the session refused a packet.
Queue full to the brim (item 1). The tests fill a queue of 8 exactly with
a reply the peer never acknowledges, then show the next reply is answered
with response_unqueueable, acknowledging nothing, followed by the
goodbye; and that a refusal whose fragment cannot be sent ends the
session with a goodbye naming EMSGSIZE.
TCP (finding 8). A message whose handling raised (snapshot recordKeys as
an int, a shard-log afterSequence that is not a number, subscribe,
schema-catalog and verse requests with int fields) killed the
connection's thread with a traceback that could quote the peer. The TCP
handler now refuses such a message with fixed text (message_unhandled),
logs the error type only, and serves the connection's next message.
Daemon (finding 10). --port 99999 is an argparse error (exit 2), not a
traceback.

end_unsendable_session put the OSError's text on the wire, which is the
platform's wording and can quote an address. send_error_code names a
permanent failure EMSGSIZE, EINVAL or EAFNOSUPPORT (Winsock equivalents
included), anything else UNKNOWN, as the Rust and TypeScript goodbyes
do; is_permanent_send_error is now "has a known code".
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The queue-full test used an empty queue, so a reliable refusal fitted and
the reliable-refusal mutant lived. The new test fills a queue of 8
exactly with a reply the peer never acknowledges; the next reply cannot
be queued, and its refusal must still arrive, acknowledging nothing the
peer sent. A RawPeer helper drives the peer packet by packet; the gap
test uses it too.
A response too large for any datagram fails with the kernel's EMSGSIZE:
the rejection is ResponseSendFailed("EMSGSIZE"), the goodbye is exactly
"packet could not be sent: EMSGSIZE", and no refusal is sent.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
request_raw_snapshot_from_rudp_catalog put a catalog's error text into
its own error unfiltered. It now reports "refused the snapshot", naming
the refusal only when it is one of the fixed CultMesh refusal texts, as
the publisher does; both share recognised_refusal.
The publisher's doc claimed any refusing catalog is reported as a
refusal. That holds against a Rust catalog, which never acknowledges a
message it refuses; a catalog that acknowledges on receipt and refuses
afterwards (the TypeScript document server) is reported as having
admitted it. The doc now says so.
A fake catalog refusing with a canary is shared by the publisher test
and a new snapshot-client test.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
end_unsendable_session put the io::Error's Display on the wire: the
platform's wording, which differs by OS and by which packet failed.
cultnet-rs gains send_error_code, the fixed name of a failed send's
cause (EMSGSIZE, EINVAL, EAFNOSUPPORT, or UNKNOWN), matching the codes
the TypeScript goodbye already carries; is_permanent_send_error is now
"has a known code". The goodbye reads "packet could not be sent: CODE".
ResponseSendFailed carried an ErrorKind, which lost the cause (EMSGSIZE
has no kind and read as Uncategorized). It now carries the same fixed
code, and the session ends where the send failed, over the real error,
so the goodbye and the caller's rejection name the same failure.

- The fixture gains an older entry listing the id ahead of the one that
owns it, and the whole-store write carries the record under the
registered type a Rust cache's pull gives it, not the entry's name.
Kills the own-id lookup flip and the ||-to-&& flip in the entry filter.
- A store path that cannot be read (a directory) is an error, not an empty
store (the NotFound guard had no test).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
C# writes a store; Rust, TypeScript and Python each write their own note
into it; the C# record and catalog entry are unchanged and C# reads the
store. C# writes again, and the other runtime's record and entry are
unchanged too. Compared on decoded MessagePack values, every slot of the
entry and its members included.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
C2a F2, widened by Self. The schema-identity probe showed a Rust write
replacing the C# catalog entry it read with a fabricated one: version
"sha256:...v1", members [], canonical JSON naming the hash.
- The store's one reader returns the file's catalog beside its envelopes.
- The encoder writes back the entry the file holds for each id it writes
(by own id, else a lister) and describes an id itself only when the file
has none, or when a registered type owns the id under another name (a
rename, whose rule is unchanged).
- Test: a push and a whole-store push both lay back a C#-shaped entry byte
for byte.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Only "nothing at the path" reads as an empty store; a zero-byte file is Undecodable in every
runtime; a dangling link is an I/O error. Errors name keys and schema ids only, never stored
values, and echo a header only in the cultcache.store.v<digits> shape. Single-file writes
report NotReplaced / ReplacedNotDurable / Rejected; an unlock failure after a successful write
no longer replaces the write's result.
Soul passes 1-3; batch 4 closes pass 3. Merged tree 9d9e76d4 verified on Yggdrasil: Rust

receive() returns a reply only for a Ping, answered with a Pong, and a
Ping delivers no frame, so no rejection can follow an earlier send in the
same poll. The arm that carried such a failure into the rejection's end
was dead code; its mutant survived for that reason.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A reply sent earlier in the same poll could fail permanently and then be
dropped when a rejection returned first; and a refusal fragment that can
never be sent must end the session naming its error. Both now reach
end_session as the unsendable end. The test makes the refusal itself
unsendable: the peer's goodbye names the error, nothing is counted as a
lost datagram, and the other peer is served.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Send-failure semantics are Cut D's: a transient failure is counted and
never reported; a permanent one ends that peer's session.
Conflicts:
- cultmesh-ts index.ts: the two sendPackets. Cut D's
sendPacket(record, packet) is the one; the branch's reporting
sendPacket is deleted, and so is the options doc's "Every failed
datagram send reaches onError".
- cultmesh-py server.py: the rudp_send_failures doc is Cut D's. The
receive loop is Cut D's (handling guarded, permanent send errors
carried) with the branch's over_rudp=True. _send_rudp_schema_frame
sends in rudp_max_fragment_bytes fragments and returns Cut D's
permanent error from any fragment; a reply the queue cannot take no
longer vanishes into a count (below). _send_rudp_packet and the two
peer-ending helpers are Cut D's.
- cultmesh-py test imports: both create_rudp_schema_transport and
decode_rudp_packet.
Semantic resolution:
- cultmesh-rs: end_rejected_session and Cut D's end_refused_session and
end_unsendable_session collapse into one end_session(key, SessionEnd).
A refusal fragment that can never be sent is not dropped: the goodbye
names its error. The refusal stays unreliable, unordered, and
acknowledges nothing (its ack fields are built after the reset).
- cultmesh-rs: Cut D's "snapshot response could not be sent: {error}"
becomes CultMeshRudpRejectionReason::ResponseSendFailed(ErrorKind),
with a fixed REFUSAL_TEXTS entry. Its session ends as unsendable: the
peer gets the goodbye naming the error and no refusal.
- P3: a snapshot the reliable queue cannot take is answered.
cultmesh-py sends a small cultnet.error.v0 (response_unqueueable,
fixed text) unreliable and unordered, then the session ends as Cut D
ends any message the handling cannot serve. cultmesh-ts sends its
snapshot fallback error unreliable and unordered. cultmesh-rs already
answers through the refusal (ResponseQueueFailed); a test pins it.
- Tests follow: the branch's EMSGSIZE tests now expect Cut D's permanent
handling (the TS one is deleted, Cut D's own tests cover it), and the
Python queue test expects the answer instead of a count.

A peer's undecodable or unhandleable message ends only that peer's session and never
escapes Poll (the C# RUDP schema server's live crash). A send failure's goodbye belongs to
the generation that sent it. TS transient send failures are counted, not reported. The
interop harness finds the Rust peer through cargo metadata.
Soul passes 1-4; batch 5 closes pass 4's findings. Merged tree a892e117 verified on
Yggdrasil: GameCult.Networking 481, Mesh 264, cultnet-ts 198, interop 27/27 with
CARGO_TARGET_DIR set.

The first canary put a string where a u32 goes, and rmp-serde refuses that by
marker without quoting it, so the canary passed with the serde text back.
A string where a unit enum goes is quoted as an unknown variant. The canary
now covers get, get_all, get_all_with_keys, put_envelope and prepare_entry.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The handle named by a bare schema id yields unknown; 3c9 test code read .body
off it and did not compile.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The harness assumed that the Rust interop peer builds under
packages/cultnet-rs/target. When CARGO_TARGET_DIR or a cargo config's
build.target-dir is set, cargo builds elsewhere, and every Rust lane
failed with a spawn ENOENT. The path now comes from `cargo metadata`'s
target_directory, read once on first use.
The TypeScript peer imports @gamecult/cultcache-ts, and the Python peers
import msgpack. When either was missing, the lanes died with import
errors in a child's stderr or with timeouts. The first use of each peer
now checks its prerequisite and fails with a message that names it and
the command that provides it.

With only 1 KiB fragments, a pre-check measuring a small multiple of a
fragment (Soul's min(payload, frag*2)) still passed a 70,000-byte send.
The fixture now also runs with 40,000-byte fragments. Any such multiple
of that is over the datagram limit, so the mutant dies.

Stryker survivors on 426c956a..fa266e58, each now a behaviour test:
- schemaIdentityOf's defaults (version "<name>.v1", compatible ids holding
only the own id) are asserted for a name-only definition.
- A lister bound twice is one lister: an unowned id it lists still
resolves to it rather than being refused as ambiguous.
- A snapshot filtered by an id a binding lists returns that binding's
records, on the typed and raw paths.
- The ambiguity refusal's record key and message tail are asserted, and a
raw snapshot record's payload encoding.
- A string-named store document reads the record under its id, and a
definition's own id wins over an id it lists wherever each record sits.

The five-slot refusal ran a non-string key or schema id through String(),
