The bridge keeps an object alive across the call that names it, closes
each handle exactly once, and quiesces before it frees. The contract is a
header hosts and tests are checked against. Return codes are negative on
every platform, one completion per frame, and every connection's end is
observable. One mutation survived by construction and is handed to Soul
to rule on.
