# Divine Manifestation and Thaumavore Interception Proposal
This note records an operator-directed proposal for later integration. It does
not replace the authority of [[Spoilers/Foundations/Kaos|Kaos]],
[[Spoilers/Foundations/Projections, God Beasts, and Thaumavores|the divine and thaumavore foundation]],
or [[Spoilers/Institutions/The Potential Economy|The Potential Economy]]. Until
the maintainer loop adjudicates and moves accepted claims into their proper
owners, downstream notes should treat this material as proposed rather than
established canon.
## Restrictive mechanism, spectacular result
Kalsan magic is restrictive about mechanism, not about visible scale. Kaos
does not create matter or energy and does not grant literal command of reality.
It uses prescient information and magical potential to find and commit causally
reachable outcomes. Enough potential can bend probability obscenely far from
the unaided course of events.
At divine scale, that reach can imitate effects associated with less
constrained magic systems. A God Beast may route the potential of a large
hierarchy through a champion, combine the causal faculties of several magical
styles, and exploit preparations or resources across a wide horizon. The god's
mood can decide what receives that expenditure, how much risk it accepts, and
whose needs are abandoned afterward. Divine whim selects and funds the
miracle; it does not repeal causality.
## Apparent materialization and summoning
Sufficient Clarity, Depth, Scope, accessible leverage, and delegated potential
can let a divine working locate, gather, separate, refine, transform, move, and
assemble existing material in situ so quickly and precisely that witnesses
reasonably describe the result as materialization. Divine raiment can appear
upon a champion without being created from nothing. Matter comes from carried
stores or the surrounding environment, and the required energy comes from
available physical, biological, atmospheric, geological, technological, or
other causally accessible sources.
The same principle can produce levitation, radiance, sudden armament, or
city-killing destruction. Each effect still needs a route: controlled pressure
or another available force for lift; a physical energy source for light; usable
matter for raiment; and a sufficiently vulnerable energetic, geological,
meteorological, technological, or social system for devastation. The material
account may be difficult for witnesses to reconstruct, but the miracle keeps
it.
Apparent summoning follows the same rule. A god may guide an entity into place
through a long chain of decisions, reveal something previously concealed,
reconfigure an available body or material substrate, or cause an existing
transport mechanism to answer at the required moment. The arrival may look
instantaneous without requiring ex nihilo creation or unrestricted
teleportation.
Prescience permits causes to begin long before observers recognize the need.
A god that perceives a future demand may arrange its precursor conditions
hours, years, or generations earlier. This is preparation informed by the
future, not retroactive rewriting of an event that already occurred.
## Thaumavore feeding pressure
Concentrated potential exposes a feeding opportunity to nearby thaumavores.
Small workings may pass without a perceptible manifestation, but sufficiently
large divine flows necessarily attract attempts to seize and redirect part of
the miracle. This is not an unrelated haunting summoned from elsewhere. Local
dead and the remnants of unascended Beasts use the passing potential to recover
lower-world agency.
A thaumavore may have waited for a century while accumulating scraps of stolen
potential. Those scraps support the active body through which it remembers,
plans, manifests, and acts. When a divine torrent passes, the thaumavore may
commit everything it has accumulated to one canny effort to redirect the flow.
It and the god can both perceive how badly the attempt is likely to end.
The attempt is nevertheless tempting because the flow contains a narrow route
to renewed existence, stable power, binding, or ascension. Many gods began as
thaumavores that survived such an attempt. Their existence proves that the
nearly impossible branch is real. Refusal returns the waiting dead to hunger
and impotence; failure costs the entire posthumous self it managed to build.
## Divine interception
A god concentrating power through a champion can keep feeding thaumavores away
from that champion by intercepting each attempted diversion. The visible
crackling around a spectacular miracle consists of individual thaumavores
momentarily catching the flow, achieving partial manifestation, and being torn
apart by the god before they can establish control.
The god does not necessarily erase the underlying Individual Projection.
Voluntary release can remain the condition under which a Projection finally
relinquishes its place in possibility. The interception instead destroys the
thaumavore's accumulated potential body: its stored power, manifested form,
causal foothold, present agency, and everything the waiting ghost had managed
to become through that accumulation. A bare, powerless continuity may remain,
but the active being that waited, planned, and made the attempt has genuinely
been destroyed. Whether memories or other parts of that accumulated self can
survive this reduction requires explicit adjudication.
What witnesses perceive as a stable halo may therefore be a sequence of brief,
violent interceptions occurring too quickly to distinguish. Faces, hands,
voices, shadows, cold, light, or static may appear for an instant as each
thaumavore commits itself and is shredded. Divine radiance can be the visible
violence required to keep a concentrated miracle under one authority.
## Pity, shame, and divine policy
Gods that rose from thaumavore existence recognize the wager. They may destroy
feeders from self-preservation while feeling pity for beings driven toward the
same opening, shame at guarding the route by which they ascended, and fear that
another attacker may repeat their success.
This history can produce different divine policies. A god may bind a promising
attacker, permit a survivable trickle, avoid old burial landscapes, warn local
dead, negotiate passage, or spend additional potential protecting the wider
community. A paranoid, indifferent, or hurried god may defend only its champion
and treat every other claimant as interference. The interception remains a
real defense: the rare successful thaumavore can become a rival or seize part
of the miracle.
## Aftermath and revelation
Residents bear whatever costs the god declines to contain. Thaumavores outside
the protected flow may remain overfed and manifested. Diverted potential may
lodge in bodies, structures, graves, or old miracle routes. Familiar ancestral
presences and protections may go silent because their active bodies spent
themselves against the divine flow and were destroyed. The aftermath therefore
includes absences as well as new hauntings.
The public meaning of the crackling can differ radically from its backstage
mechanism. Cults may present it as glory, purification, or hostile spiritual
interference burning away. Mortuary records can instead reveal that established
dead repeatedly disappear during great miracles. Careful witnesses may identify
deliberate faces or gestures inside individual flashes. The horrifying reveal
is completed when investigators learn that some gods began by surviving the
same gamble whose later claimants they now destroy.
This should remain a layered discovery rather than universal public knowledge.
Observed effects, cult accounts, mortuary evidence, restricted learned models,
and backstage truth should stay distinct.
## Request to the maintainer loop
Please adjudicate this proposal through the vault's normal deepening and review
process, then integrate accepted claims into the existing canonical owners
rather than allowing this handoff note to become a parallel authority.
The integration should, at minimum:
- place divine-scale causal material processing and the limits of apparent
materialization or summoning under [[Spoilers/Foundations/Kaos|Kaos]];
- place feeding attempts, accumulated thaumavore bodies, interception, and the
surviving bare Projection under [[Spoilers/Foundations/Projections, God Beasts, and Thaumavores|the divine and thaumavore foundation]];
- adjudicate the proposed path by which a thaumavore can ascend into a God
Beast, including what must be seized, stabilized, or bound;
- adjudicate what memory and identity remain after a god destroys everything a
thaumavore accumulated without erasing its Projection;
- carry allocation, concentration, containment, displaced harm, recovery, and
divine cleanup obligations into [[Spoilers/Institutions/The Potential Economy|The Potential Economy]]
and any mortuary or covenant owners that genuinely need them;
- decide which situated institutions can discover, conceal, contest, or teach
the relationship between divine radiance and destroyed thaumavores;
- preserve the spoiler boundary by exposing only inhabitant-owned evidence and
interpretations in `Kalsa/Public/`, not the backstage taxonomy or complete
reveal;
- update indexes and links only after ownership is settled; and
- retire this proposal as an authority after integration, leaving at most a
short provenance pointer if the decision history remains useful.
Do not copy these sections wholesale into every neighboring note. One owner per
claim, with links carrying the rest.
